| It has been a rough 6 days for our household. Ethan started with a terrible cold last Wednesday and it has all gone down hill from there. We ended up in the emergency room at Children's Hospital at 4:15 a.m on Thursday because Ethan was vomiting and burning up with fever. Dr. said he had a nasty virus and sent us home with zofran for nausea in hopes we could get Ethan to at least drink. He did this but very little. Just as we would think we had won the war Ethan's fever would spike and a new battle began. By Monday afternoon we were unable to console Ethan and his temps were completely unpredictable. We decided it was best to see our pediatrician rather than keep guessing what was going on. We have a wonderful pediatrician who had given us his personal cell phone number so there was no waiting for a triage nurse to call back. Results of visit were that Ethan just got a nasty virus and as long as the tylenol/motrin is making some difference we should stick with that. Today Jeff and I are tag teaming Ethan duty so that we can both get things done.
So as you can see it has been a long 6 days. At times I was unsure if it was morning or evening because I would sleep whenever Ethan did. It is true it takes a village to raise a child. I often wish we had more family around to help. Sorry mom and dad. This isn't a guilt trip just a place for me to share my feelings.
As I ponder the health of my child I am listening to the Radiothon for Arkansas Children's Hospital. I hear the stories of babies diagnosed at 18 months with rare forms of cancer, and 3 month olds diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and I realize my last 6 days are nothing compared to their lives. I thank God every day for a healthy little boy. Even though he wears us down at times we are blessed.
Speaking of the boy I hear him refusing his nap so I better go. |
